Project Results
In 2025-2026 our boards approved $9.2 million for 72 fish and wildlife projects to conserve and enhance fish and wildlife in watersheds impacted by BC Hydro dams. As the projects proceed, we will share results and project outcomes here, including final project reports.
We share project results in our annual reports and project outcomes, through our Coastal, Columbia, and Peace region e-letters, social media, and this page.
Our projects can have immediate benefits to species and ecosystems. For example, if we fund a project to remove a culvert, fish passage can be improved right away. Other projects may take longer to show results. Our funding of recovery efforts for endangered Northern Leopard Frogs, caribou, and Vancouver Island Marmots are examples of where a longer-term commitment is needed before results will be evident.

High-value grizzly corridor protected
Coastal Region — Twenty hectares of high-value habitat near D’Arcy in the Bridge-Seton River Watershed has been secured. The area is a crucial corridor, connecting the threatened Stein-Nahatlatch grizzly bear population with the more numerous South Chilcotin grizzly bear population.

Six wildlife crossings built
Columbia Region — Crossings created in our Columbia Region are helping wildlife safely cross beneath a busy highway. Since 2020, a project funded by our Columbia Region board and led by the Province of B.C. has built six underpasses under bridges near Sparwood.

Seven bat species found
Peace Region — Seven bat species identified and detected in a Peace Region bat monitoring project. These findings will help inform the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) that's working to establish baseline information on bats in the face of white nose syndrome, habitat loss, and other threats. The creation of BC Hydro reservoirs, decades ago, flooded habitat and wetlands, reducing roosting and foraging opportunities for bats and other species.
Project Reports and Databases
To make it easy for you to find project reports and results, we prepare and update searchable spreadsheets for each of our regions. Use these spreadsheets to find the report you want. Contact us anytime if you need help to find a FWCP project report.
