Restoring Caribou Habitat in the Klinse-Za Herd Range

The focus of this multi-year project is on restoring habitat for the at-risk Klinse-Za caribou herd and managing access to the range to reduce impacts on the population.

Work is focused on 13 restoration sites in the herd area near Chetwynd. This year, restoration treatments are planned for ~20 kilometres of road, adding to the ~90 kilometres of linear corridors already treated during this project.

This project will result in reduced human access, reduced predator use, and predator movement rates, and will lead to accelerated forest regeneration and improved habitat for caribou.
