New board member!

June 16, 2022

Meet our new Columbia Region board member Samara Kolasko

Samara Kolasko is a biologist working in Revelstoke and has a M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University. She has six years of experience in terrestrial ecosystem conservation, working for both environmental non-profits and governmental agencies. Samara’s past research projects looked at the restoration of at-risk raptors by assessing the conversion of landfills to old-field habitat, and monitoring prey response to vegetation and soil conditions. This work led to recommendations on restoration techniques to improve prey abundance, and subsequently, increase raptors in B.C.’s Lower Mainland.

British Columbia born and raised, Samara has lived in many parts of the province and has now settled in Revelstoke. She joins nine other board members who are responsible for approving annual operating plans.
