Long-time Chetwynd resident Wayne Sawchuk is the newest Public Representative on our Peace Region Board. Wayne comes from a logging family, has a trap line on the Gataga River and has spent his life on the land. In the 1990s Wayne was instrumental in helping conserve 6.4 million hectares in the Northern Rockies, now known as the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area. Today he sits on the Muskwa-Kechika Advisory Board. Wayne and his wife Donna live on a 160-acre ranch near Rolla, and in the summer months Wayne runs horse-back expeditions in the back country. Wayne sees the FWCP as one way to help address human impacts on the natural environment and he’s looking forward to joining our Board.
