These tires—104 of them to be exact—were removed from the riverside as part of the Slocan River Riparian Enhancement Project led by Slocan River Streamkeepers with funding from an FWCP Community Engagement Grant.

Five nesting boxes were attached to cedar posts along the river and 50 native trees and shrubs were planted, including cottonwood, willow, alder, red osier dogwood, cedar, and spruce. A big thanks to the Youth Climate Corps crew (a Wildsight project) and community members for helping to haul tires, plant and water trees, and install the posts!
